May 30, 2017.
PAFE supporters have heard from MPP Jack MacLaren that he will be voting against Bill 89, when it is expected for the final reading/vote this week.
Jack MacLaren just left the Ontario PC party, and is now free to vote his conscience on this issue.
I have also heard from supporters that MPP Bob Bailey is now also planning to vote against Bill 89.
And now, joining in this parade against Bill 89, is MPP Monte McNaughton, according to Campaign Life Coalition.
Bill 89 is the Wynne sponsored legislation which, among its many problems, could see the government seize children from their family homes if the family doesn't provide medical treatment to a child who wants to switch genders.
PAFE has been actively campaigning and lobbying MPPs since January on this issue. We started a petition which has garnered over 5,000 signatures.
PAFE knows that the Wynne Liberals have the votes necessary to pass this legislation. However, Patrick Brown, PC leader, has lately whipped his party vote to give Wynne a unanimous vote on dangerous bills.
Ontario families elect their MPP's to represent their constituents- not Patrick Brown or Kathleen Wynne. Jack MacLaren just left the PC Caucus because according to The Toronto Star, MacLaren "is disillusioned with Brown’s leadership and disappointed that the party does not allow more free votes so MPPs can vote with their conscience."
Please, if you haven't yet, contact your MPP and ask them to vote AGAINST Bill 89! Email me at [email protected] to let me know you have done so. It is IMPORTANT that you do this ASAP so that more MPPs will show up and vote against Bill 89.
Together for the family,
Tanya Granic Allen
President
