How often does your board meet? Who are the incumbents? Are your meetings live-streamed? CLICK HERE to read more.
3) Read the school board trustee candidate's guide.
If your interest is now piqued, find out the nitty gritty details about running, including nominations, campaigning, keeping financial records, etc. by reading the Ontario government's manual for candidates:

4) Familiarize yourself with city and provincial regulations about campaigning and spending.
You will also need to become familiar with the provincial rules on advertising during the election if you plan to advertise, including on social media. CLICK HERE for the province's guide to third-party advertising.
Be aware that your municipality may have specific rules about signage, whether campaigning may take place on municipal property, and whether your donors may receive a rebate, etc. Find out more here.
5) Take our questionnaire!
Please fill out all sections, sign and date and return by email to [email protected] by August 19, 2022. File may be opened in Acrobat or Adobe reader and signed with a digital signature, saved and sent back by email. Or you can print the pages, and scan or send photos by email.
