London Area School Board COVID Vaccine Mandate Motions

TVDSB

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) has decided to consult the public about writing to the government to request making COVID vaccines mandatory for students. During a board meeting on September 8th, the school board trustees examined several motions concerning vaccines, masks, and restrictions on some indoor sports and musical instruments. A motion put forth by Corrine Rahman to mandate vaccinations for all employees, trustees, and frequent visitors was withdrawn when the provincial government made an announcement about vaccination requirements for school boards.

The Trustees of the TVDSB school board have deferred several proposed COVID-19-related motions until their next board meeting on September 28th to allow for public response. The school board is now consulting the public before moving forward with these motions.

One of these regards requesting the board to write a letter to the government to ask that COVID-19 vaccines be added to the list of vaccines that are required to attend school.

Read the resolution from the Sept 8th, 2021 agenda of the TVDSB by clicking here:

"Be it resolved that: That the Chair write a letter to the local Chief Medical Officers of Health, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Minister of Education affirming that the board supports COVID-19 vaccines be added to the list of compulsory vaccinations for all eligible students, as advocated by the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association." p. 2

Please write to or call your Trustee as soon as possible, but before Sept. 28th, and tell them whether you think the board should request the government to make student COVID-19 vaccines mandatory. It is important that parents are consulted about such important decisions.
