Halton shop teacher reappears in new school board

The Halton shop teacher, Kayla Lemieux, is back in the classroom this year…in a new board, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.

In case you need a refresher, Lemieux is the teacher, formerly of the Halton District School Board, who caused an international sensation by wearing a wig, outsized prosthetic breasts and highly suggestive apparel to teach in. Lemieux was placed on leave at the end of the 2022-23 school year.

You would think after all the protests and all the outcry that no board would welcome a repeat of the events that occurred last year at Oakville Trafalgar high school.

But that’s what has happened!

There is no word as to whether Lemieux has been promised protection to wear similar attire when he begins the year at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary school in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.

The Toronto Sun broke the shocking story and it has now rapidly reached into international papers, yet again.

We have questions.  So many questions.

Has this school board lost its mind?

Does Premier Doug Ford's Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, who said last year that the Halton board had ample resources at its disposal to rectify this problem, condone the transfer?

The principal, Tom Fisher, sent out a letter to families stating only that the board has “an obligation to uphold individual rights and treat everyone with dignity and respect” and “should the school be subject to any disruptions or protests; we are committed to communicating with you as openly and as frequently as possible to ensure student safety – and to share any operational plans.”
