Last week, I told you about a special opportunity for political action with our MPPs: PAFE has developed a “paper” sex-ed petition and the idea is to have MPPs stand and read it aloud in the Ontario Legislature. To read that email, click here.
Since we launched the petition, hundreds of concerned parents have been collecting thousands of signatures! So many parents have been contacting PAFE to arrange for pick-up throughout Ontario that it has been hard to keep up with everyone! If we didn’t return your email or phone call promptly, it’s because of the overwhelming response – but that's a good thing!
So, thank you for your hard work and dedication to ensuring the full repeal of Wynne’s sex-ed curriculum!
We will be presenting your petition forms to various MPPs. Please continue collecting signatures and ensure that the original petition forms are in the mail to PAFE by Monday August 13 if you live in southern Ontario (earlier if you are in northern Ontario). Remember - we must have the original forms with original signatures. You cannot submit them by email or fax and DO NOT send them to the Premier or to any MPP directly. To have our petition presented in the Legislature, PAFE must have your originally-signed petition forms.

And yesterday, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath held a press conference claiming that rolling back Wynne’s sex-ed could jeopardize students’ health. To read the article, click here.
How appropriate is it for the Official Opposition to create a petition and have its own MPPs use tax dollars to gather signatures for it? Should not petitions be initiated by the grassroots rather than by politicians themselves? Are elected officials representatives of their constituents or marketers of an agenda? Is Horwath admitting that, in fact, there is NO grassroots movement in favour of the Wynne/Horwath sex-ed? That the NDP must use its own resources to manufacture opposition to the new government’s sex-ed plans?
Ford committed to repealing Wynne’s sex-ed, and PAFE will do everything necessary to ensure that he keeps his full promise to “repeal and replace” it. And that full promise of “repeal” means no more unscientific gender identity in schools this fall.
