Patrick Brown says NO to criticising Kathleen Wynne's sex-ed

Yesterday Patrick Brown announced that he will not allow any policies on sex-ed or any other social conservative issue to come forward at the Ontario PC Party convention next month.

The last time I met with Patrick Brown face to face was in his Queen’s Park office, in May 2016, just a few months before his infamous sex-ed flip flop.

I remember in that meeting that Patrick Brown was really pushing PAFE to get involved in his online policy process- almost desperate for us to join the process. He told me that this would be the best way for Ontarians to propose policies and have them voted on at the policy convention the next year. I was very clear with him that Ontario parents want a FULL repeal of the Wynne sex-ed. He urged me to encourage PAFE supporters to go through the process.

I left skeptical of him and his process. My instincts told me to be very cautious on how to proceed. Something about the way he was talking to me made me unsure of him, as if he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. Something in my gut told me this process would be a waste of time.

Then Queenie Yu ran in the Scarborough-Rouge River byelection which helped to expose Patrick Brown’s true position on the sex-ed; he was for it! So much for a policy process when Patrick Brown is content on announcing policy on the fly.

He followed by stating publically on Sept. 19, 2016, "I strongly support the updated sex-ed curriculum. I will never support removing LGBT sensitivity or combating homophobia from schools. It is important to have sex education to combat homophobia, and raise important issues like consent, mental health, bullying, and gender identity."

Fast forward to last month. Patrick Brown again urged people to participate in his online policy process. This time, however, you had to be a registered Ontario PC Party member. Again, as I reported to you, I was skeptical.

Well Patrick Brown just confirmed publically what I knew in my gut; he is banning any policies dealing with sex-ed or any other social conservative issue for that matter. Click here to read the news story for yourself.

Now what?

Last month I asked you to buy a membership in the Ontario PC Party to vote on these policies. Now that seems like a waste- but is it?

What if I told you can still put your PC Party membership to a good use? You can FORCE Patrick Brown to listen to all of us who think the Wynne sex-ed is a disaster.

Many of you have written to me saying that you still want to work within the Ontario PC Party- that Patrick Brown won’t be leader forever (or perhaps even a short while) and you want to work from within.

So why not put your PC Party membership to good use and get involved in the movement, Take Back Our PC Party? And it’s not too late to join if you didn’t take out a membership yet. You still have an opportunity to do so, and help in the taking back of the PC Party.

For those of you who want to send a strong message to the Ontario PC Party, join the movement.
