The Catholic Education and Living Our Catholic Values sub-committee recommends to the Student Achievement and Well Being, Catholic Education and Human Resources Committee:

That the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) affirms that all people are created in the image and likeness of God and are deserving of respect and dignity.

That it is the mandate of the TCDSB’s vision and mission to give pre-eminence to the tenets of the Roman Catholic Faith, congruent with section 93(3) of The Constitution Act, 1867; with section 29 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms; with sections 1(4), 169.1, and 301 of the Education Act; and sections 1 and 19 of the Ontario Human Rights Code, in all TCDSB teachings, activities, documents and operations;

That the TCDSB upholds that every person is of infinite worth and dignity;

That the TCDSB strives to eliminate discrimination towards any person in order to create an inclusive community rooted in the love of Jesus Christ, a safe healthy learning environment and a positive school climate for the benefit of all;

That all members of the TCDSB community shall value and respect the teachings of the Catholic Church;

That all clauses, in TCDSB Codes of Conduct, Policies, Action Plans, and all documents, listing specific characteristics of non-discrimination, be removed and replaced with: “That all members of the TCDSB community shall respect and treat others fairly, as children of God, created in the image and likeness of God, of infinite dignity and worth”;

That the above values, actions and behaviours be included in all TCDSB Codes of Conduct and Policies mandating and requiring standards of behaviour and in all other relevant documents, Action Plans, and goal statements now and going forward.
